Paper Mario Sticker Star for Nintendo DS - Pre-loved & Fully Tested
Mario first appeared in 1981 in Donkey Kong. Since then he has appeared in over 200 games and whilst I haven't played anywhere close to all of them, I have loved playing his games on SNES, DS, N64 and the Wii.
Always taxing, always brilliant and family friendly.
A rare piece of retro gaming, Pre-loved and Fully Tested.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star was released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012 and is the fourth instalment in the Paper Mario series. Developed by Intelligent Systems, the game introduced a new mechanic centered around stickers, which are used for combat and puzzle-solving. Unlike previous Paper Mario games, Sticker Star relies heavily on these collectible stickers, which serve as Mario’s attacks, abilities, and items. Stickers can be found in the environment or purchased, and once used, they disappear, requiring players to constantly manage their inventory.
Set in the Mushroom Kingdom, the game follows Mario’s quest to recover six Royal Stickers that have been scattered after Bowser disrupts the annual Sticker Fest. The game maintains the series' signature paper-craft art style, with vibrant, foldable environments and charming character designs.
While Sticker Star received praise for its visuals and creativity, it drew mixed reactions due to its departure from the RPG elements that earlier Paper Mario titles were known for. The focus on stickers in combat, coupled with the lack of experience points or traditional character progression, was a notable shift that polarized fans. Despite this, Sticker Star was a commercial success, appealing to both fans of the series and newcomers with its lighthearted tone and puzzle-oriented gameplay.
